The Design.
Start off by designing the sword. Get an old newspaper and draw out the
sword on a 1:1 scale. The scale is important as things which look fine
on a small scale can suddenly look ridiculous when they are scaled up.
For the purpose of this am going to build a very simple bastard sword
(Fig. 1).
